Hong Kong International Airport is turning its Terminal 2 arrivals hall into a temporary live entertainment venue, with Commercial Radio 903 bringing musicians, performers, travel games and celebrity guests to the airport every Saturday for eight weeks.

The special edition of the travel programme Sik Ga Hong Kong Air began on September 12 and will be broadcast live from Terminal 2 every Saturday from 2pm to 3pm. The series combines music and travel themed entertainment with information about the airport, giving passengers and visitors a chance to watch the programme while learning more about Hong Kong's main international aviation hub.

Hosted by Tse Sai ka, the programme will feature different performers and guests throughout the eight week run. Representatives from Airport Authority Hong Kong will also appear each week to discuss airport operations, development projects and the latest changes taking place at the facility.

The opening episode brought together an unusual musical combination, with FAMA members C Kwan, whose full name is Cheng Si kwan, and 6 Wing, whose full name is Luk Wing, joining singer and actor Louis Cheung Kai chung. The three performers appeared as Wives and Husbands and spoke about their own experiences of travelling before taking part in a series of games designed around common airport and travel situations.

FAMA Members and Louis Cheung Open the Series

The opening episode mixed conversation with lighthearted challenges, giving the performers an opportunity to talk about travel beyond the usual celebrity interview format.

One of the games focused on a familiar problem for air travellers: how to pack efficiently while staying within an airline's cabin baggage allowance.

The guests were challenged to pack a suitcase as close as possible to the 7kg hand carry limit without exceeding it. The task required them to balance the contents of the suitcase while keeping an eye on the weight.

For many travellers, the 7kg limit can be the difference between taking an item into the cabin and having to check it in. By turning that practical issue into a competition, the programme connected its entertainment format with a situation passengers regularly face at airports.

The guests also faced a travel knowledge challenge involving an AI generated video.

They were shown a short travel video and asked to identify the destination featured in it. The location was eventually revealed as Liechtenstein, a small European country situated between Switzerland and Austria.

The guessing game added another element to the programme while testing how accurately the performers could recognise a destination from visual clues.

Live Performance Brings Music to Terminal 2

The opening programme ended with a live performance from Wives and Husbands.

The group performed Ladies and Gentlemen inside Terminal 2, giving passengers and other visitors an opportunity to see the performers in a setting more commonly associated with arrivals, departures and luggage than live music.

The performance also set the tone for the rest of the eight week series, which will continue to combine celebrity appearances with live music and travel related activities.

Holding the programme inside the airport allows the radio show to reach an audience beyond its regular listeners. Passengers arriving in Hong Kong can encounter the broadcast as part of their airport experience, while people accompanying travellers or spending time in the terminal can also watch the live programme.

The arrangement also gives the Airport Authority Hong Kong a regular platform to speak directly about developments at the airport.

Airport Authority to Share Latest Developments

Airport Authority Hong Kong representatives are scheduled to join the programme each week, providing updates and insights into the operation of Hong Kong International Airport.

Their participation will add an informational element to a programme otherwise centred on entertainment and celebrity guests.

Airports operate as complex transport systems, with passengers often seeing only a small part of the work involved in moving people and aircraft through the facility. A live radio programme inside the terminal gives the authority an opportunity to discuss some of those activities while reaching an audience that includes both local residents and international travellers.

The weekly appearances may also give listeners a closer look at new developments at the airport and changes affecting passengers.

For Commercial Radio 903, the format creates a direct connection between a travel programme and one of Hong Kong's busiest transport locations.

Feanna Wong and Har Ting Chuen to Appear Next

The second episode is scheduled for September 19 and will feature singer Feanna Wong and JFFT member Har Ting chuen.

The pair will discuss their travel experiences during the programme and perform live at the airport.

Their appearance continues the show's approach of combining personal travel stories with music. Like the opening episode, the second programme will be broadcast from the Terminal 2 arrivals hall between 2pm and 3pm.

The choice of guests also keeps the series focused on a mixture of music, entertainment and online culture, with performers from different parts of Hong Kong's entertainment scene taking part.

More guests are expected to be announced before each weekly episode, meaning the programme will introduce a new combination of performers and personalities as the eight week run continues.

A Different Kind of Airport Experience

Airports are usually places where people are focused on getting somewhere else. Travellers check flight information, collect luggage, meet relatives and friends, or move quickly towards transport connections.

The Terminal 2 special changes that routine for one hour each Saturday.

Instead of simply passing through the arrivals hall, visitors can stop to watch live performances, hear celebrity travel stories and take part in the atmosphere surrounding the broadcast.

For the performers, the airport also offers a very different stage from a concert venue, television studio or traditional radio station. The presence of passengers and visitors creates an audience that can change from week to week as flights arrive and people move through the terminal.

That setting is particularly suited to a travel programme because the location itself becomes part of the content.

The programme also reflects the way radio and live entertainment increasingly overlap. A traditional radio broadcast can now create a physical event, while people at the location can experience the programme in person.

Eight Weeks of Music and Travel

The Terminal 2 special will run for eight weeks, with new guests announced ahead of each episode.

The format will remain centred on three elements: travel stories, interactive games and live performances. Airport Authority Hong Kong representatives will also appear throughout the series to discuss airport operations and developments.

The first episode demonstrated how the concept works. C Kwan, 6 Wing and Louis Cheung shared personal travel experiences, competed in a suitcase packing challenge, identified a destination from an AI generated video and ended the programme with a live performance.

The next episode will bring Feanna Wong and Har Ting chuen to the airport on September 19, giving passengers another chance to see a live broadcast while they pass through Terminal 2.

For travellers arriving in Hong Kong on Saturday afternoons, the airport may offer more than a place to collect luggage. From 2pm to 3pm, Terminal 2 will also serve as the temporary home of a weekly live music and travel show.
