A 21 year old motorcyclist died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a stone barrier on Tai Au Mun Road in Clear Water Bay in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The crash happened at about 12.44am as the rider was travelling towards Kowloon along Tai Au Mun Road. Police said the motorcycle was approaching a left hand bend near Clear Water Bay First Beach when the rider lost control.
The motorcycle struck a stone barrier on the left side of the road before sliding for about 15 metres and coming to a stop.

Rider Found Unconscious on Road
The force of the collision left the motorcycle badly damaged, with parts scattered across the road. The fuel tank and front forks were among the components found away from the main wreckage, while a helmet and a large pool of blood were also reported at the scene.
The rider was found lying unconscious on the road after the crash.
Emergency personnel attended the scene and transported him to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment. Despite medical attention, he later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Road Closed in Both Directions
Following the collision, Tai Au Mun Road was temporarily closed in both directions while emergency workers and police dealt with the scene.
The closure was necessary as officers examined the motorcycle, the damaged roadside barrier and the debris spread across the carriageway. Investigators also needed to document the position of the vehicle and other evidence before the road could safely reopen.
The condition of the motorcycle showed the severity of the impact. Major components had been separated from the vehicle, leaving debris across the road and requiring authorities to secure the area.

Police Investigate Cause of Crash
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
At this stage, authorities have not established why the motorcyclist lost control while negotiating the bend.
Investigators are expected to examine the condition of the motorcycle, the road layout and surrounding area, as well as any other available evidence that could help establish what happened in the moments before the collision.
The exact cause of the crash has not been disclosed.
Tai Au Mun Road serves as a route through the Clear Water Bay area and includes sections with bends and changing road conditions. Police have not said whether road conditions, weather, speed or a possible mechanical problem contributed to the collision.
The investigation will determine whether any of these factors were relevant.
