DBS Bank (Hong Kong) and Manulife Hong Kong have donated HK$1 million to the Hong Kong Hospital Authority to strengthen mental health support for healthcare workers across the city’s public hospitals.
The donation will support Oasis, Centre for Personal Growth & Crisis Intervention, which operates under the Hospital Authority’s Corporate Clinical Psychology Services. The funding will help expand digital mental health resources and psychological support available to Hospital Authority staff.
The initiative will also enhance the “myOasis” mobile application, giving healthcare workers access to resources covering mindfulness, self compassion and sleep hygiene. According to DBS Hong Kong and Manulife Hong Kong, the expanded support will benefit approximately 90,000 healthcare workers across Hong Kong’s public hospitals.
DBS and Manulife support mental health services
Oasis was established under the Hospital Authority’s Corporate Clinical Psychology Services to promote psychological wellness and provide mental health support to the organisation’s workforce.
The HK$1 million donation will contribute to the expansion of services available through the centre, including the development of digital resources on the myOasis mobile application.
The application is designed to give Hospital Authority employees access to psychological wellbeing resources. Its enhanced content will include guidance and resources related to mindfulness, self compassion and sleep hygiene.
The companies said the initiative will strengthen round the clock psychological support for approximately 90,000 healthcare workers working across Hong Kong’s public hospitals.
The Hospital Authority expressed its appreciation to DBS Hong Kong and Manulife Hong Kong for their joint contribution toward healthcare worker mental health.
HK$1 million donation targets healthcare worker wellbeing
Mental health support for healthcare workers is at the centre of the donation. The initiative focuses specifically on employees of the Hospital Authority and aims to expand the resources available to them through an established psychological support service.
The enhanced myOasis application will provide another way for Hospital Authority staff to access mental health information and wellbeing resources.
Mindfulness, self compassion and sleep hygiene are among the areas covered by the expanded digital resources. These subjects address different aspects of psychological wellbeing, from managing attention and responding to personal difficulties to developing healthier sleep habits.
The donation will therefore support both the existing psychological services provided through Oasis and the continued development of digital resources for healthcare workers.
Donation marks DBS and Manulife’s 10 year partnership
The HK$1 million contribution also marks the 10th anniversary of the bancassurance partnership between DBS Hong Kong and Manulife Hong Kong.
The partnership has provided insurance and wealth management solutions to customers across Hong Kong for the past decade. The companies said their joint donation reflects their commitment to supporting the communities they serve.
During the 10 year partnership, DBS Hong Kong’s annual insurance sales through its bancassurance channel recorded growth of more than 400 percent in annualized premium equivalent, or APE, sales, according to the companies’ statement.
APE is an insurance industry measure used to represent annualised new business from regular and single premium policies.
The companies said the growth demonstrates the development of their bancassurance relationship, while the latest donation extends their cooperation into community support and healthcare worker wellbeing.
DBS Hong Kong CEO backs healthcare workers
Sebastian Paredes, head of North Asia and chief executive of DBS Hong Kong, said the two companies were proud to extend their contribution beyond financial services as they marked the 10th anniversary of their partnership.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we are equally proud to extend our impact beyond financial services through our joint donation to support the mental wellbeing of Hong Kong’s healthcare workers,” Paredes said.
He also recognised the work carried out by healthcare professionals across the city.
“Their dedication to caring for our community deserves our collective support, and we hope this contribution will help strengthen their resilience and wellbeing for years to come,” he said.
Paredes said the donation reflects the companies’ intention to provide support beyond their financial services relationship.
Manulife Hong Kong highlights community commitment
Wilton Kee of Manulife Hong Kong and Macau said the donation reflects the company’s commitment to creating lasting value for customers and society.
He said the contribution would support a healthier and more resilient community.
For the Hospital Authority, the donation provides additional resources for an existing mental health support programme rather than establishing a separate service.
The funding will support Oasis and the enhancement of myOasis, allowing the Hospital Authority to expand the digital resources available to its workforce.

myOasis to provide expanded digital mental health resources
The myOasis mobile application is an important part of the initiative because it gives Hospital Authority employees access to mental health and psychological wellbeing resources through a digital platform.
The enhanced application will include resources focused on mindfulness, self compassion and sleep hygiene.
Mindfulness resources can help users develop greater awareness of their thoughts and attention. Self compassion resources focus on how individuals respond to personal difficulties, while sleep hygiene guidance addresses habits and behaviours associated with healthier sleep.
The expanded digital resources will complement the psychological services provided through the Hospital Authority’s Corporate Clinical Psychology Services.
The initiative is designed to make additional mental health resources available to a large healthcare workforce working across Hong Kong’s public hospital system.
Mental health support for 90,000 healthcare workers
Approximately 90,000 Hospital Authority healthcare workers are expected to benefit from the enhanced psychological support.
The scale of the workforce means the initiative extends beyond an individual hospital or department. It is intended to provide additional mental health resources across Hong Kong’s public healthcare system.
The Hospital Authority’s appreciation of the donation also reflects the role of external organisations in supporting staff wellbeing programmes.
For DBS Hong Kong and Manulife Hong Kong, the initiative connects their 10 year financial services partnership with a contribution to healthcare workers and the wider Hong Kong community.
The HK$1 million donation will support the continued development of Oasis and the myOasis mobile application. The expanded resources will give approximately 90,000 Hospital Authority healthcare workers additional access to digital mental health and psychological wellbeing support.
As DBS Hong Kong and Manulife Hong Kong mark 10 years of their bancassurance partnership, their latest contribution is directed toward the mental wellbeing of the healthcare workers serving Hong Kong’s public hospitals. Should more companies increase funding for mental health support for healthcare workers?
