Halloween celebrations will take over Hong Kong’s Discovery Bay from October 10 to November 1, bringing giant monsters, colourful installations, costume contests, night markets, pet events and family activities to the seaside community.
The three week programme, “Spooky Chills @ Discovery Bay 2026,” will turn DB Plaza and DB North Plaza into Halloween themed destinations, giving visitors a range of activities instead of limiting the celebrations to a single night.
Giant Monsters and Halloween Installations
Visitors will encounter a three eyed monster near the pier as part of the seasonal installations. Another major attraction will recreate a giant bedroom scene featuring a five metre tall inflatable monster.
The installation will also include hidden photo spots surrounded by colourful candy themed decorations. The displays are designed to give families and friends several opportunities to take photographs while exploring Discovery Bay.
The Halloween decorations will remain in place throughout much of the programme, allowing visitors to experience the themed attractions before the main Halloween weekend.
Discovery Bay Fun Day Brings Free Activities
The celebrations will reach their busiest point on October 31 and November 1 with the first Discovery Bay Fun Day.
Around 20 free activities will be available during the two day event, with programming aimed at families, groups of friends and pet owners. The event will add a broader community element to the Halloween programme while giving visitors more reasons to spend time in Discovery Bay.
The range of activities means visitors will not need to attend only for Halloween themed entertainment. The weekend will combine leisure, shopping, food and activities across the neighbourhood.
Halloween Night Market Returns
The Halloween Night Market will return to DB Plaza on October 31 with around 60 stalls.
Visitors will be able to browse handmade crafts, Halloween accessories and pet products while enjoying evening entertainment. A roaming magician will also perform around the market, adding live entertainment to the shopping experience.
The market is expected to provide another option for visitors who want to experience Halloween without taking part in a costume contest or organised activity.
First Halloween Parade and Costume Contest
Costume enthusiasts will have a new event to attend this year as Discovery Bay stages its first Halloween Parade and Costume Contest on October 31.
Thirty shortlisted contestants will parade from D'Deck to DB Plaza in a variety of costumes. The entries will include creative Halloween outfits and anime inspired designs.
Prizes will be awarded as part of the competition, with round trip air tickets to Taipei among the prizes available to contestants.
The parade will also create a public spectacle for visitors who simply want to watch the costumes and performances without entering the contest.
Halloween Celebrations for Pets
Pets will have their own programme at DB North through the two day Halloween Bark & Bounce carnival.
The event will feature a pet market with around 20 stalls offering products for animals and their owners. Pet owners will also be able to join a charity walk on October 31.
At Garden Toscana, another Halloween party will give pet owners the chance to celebrate with their furry companions. The event will include themed photo spots and workshops designed around the Halloween theme.
The pet focused activities give Discovery Bay’s programme a wider audience, allowing visitors to bring their animals into the celebrations rather than leaving them at home.
Halloween Dining at Discovery Bay
The Halloween programme will also extend into local hotels and restaurants.
Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong will offer a Mexican inspired Halloween experience featuring colourful decorations, themed dining and a special stay package.
The hotel experience will allow visitors to combine Halloween activities with an overnight stay, while its themed dining will add a seasonal element to the celebration.
At Peony Chinese Restaurant, diners will find Halloween themed dim sum and desserts. The menu will include skull shaped purple sweet potato buns and pumpkin pudding.
These seasonal food offerings provide another way for visitors to take part in the Halloween programme without attending the larger public events.
Free Bus and Ferry Services
Transportation will also receive attention during the Discovery Bay Fun Day weekend.
Complimentary bus and ferry services will operate during designated hours on October 31 and November 1. The services will give visitors additional options for travelling to and around Discovery Bay during the busiest part of the celebrations.
Those planning to attend several activities can use the transport services to move between different areas of the community.
Advance Registration Required for Some Activities
While many parts of the programme will be accessible to visitors, some activities will require advance registration.
Places will be available on a first come, first served basis, so visitors interested in specific workshops, contests or organised events should check registration details before attending.
The arrangement is particularly relevant for activities with limited capacity, where visitors may not be able to register after spaces have been filled.
