ASEAN is set to take a much larger role at Eco Expo Asia 2026, with six member states making their first appearance and 13 green technology companies joining the event’s first dedicated ASEAN Pavilion in Hong Kong.

The four day exhibition will take place from October 26 to 29 at AsiaWorld Expo under the theme “Connecting the World for a Sustainable Future.” More than 340 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions will gather at the event, bringing together technologies focused on clean energy, waste reduction, carbon monitoring, sustainable construction and resource efficiency.

The expanded ASEAN presence comes as governments and businesses across Asia face growing pressure to cut emissions while finding commercially viable ways to change how energy, materials and resources are used.

ASEAN Takes Centre Stage at Hong Kong Green Tech Expo

The new ASEAN Pavilion will be one of the biggest new features of Eco Expo Asia 2026.

Thirteen green technology companies from eight ASEAN member states will participate in the pavilion, creating a dedicated platform for businesses from Southeast Asia to present environmental products, services and technologies to international buyers and industry representatives.

Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam will participate in the expo for the first time.

Their participation gives the exhibition a broader regional reach and provides companies from Southeast Asia with an opportunity to connect with Hong Kong businesses, Chinese mainland companies, investors and environmental technology specialists.

The pavilion also reflects the growing importance of regional cooperation in developing practical responses to climate and environmental challenges. Companies across ASEAN are increasingly working in areas such as renewable energy, waste management, carbon reduction and resource recovery.

For businesses attending the exhibition, the focus is not simply on displaying technology. The event also offers opportunities to identify customers, suppliers and potential partners in markets where demand for environmental solutions is growing.

More Than 340 Exhibitors Will Attend

Eco Expo Asia 2026 will feature more than 340 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions, with 18 pavilions representing different markets and organizations.

Qinghai Province will make its debut at the event with a dedicated pavilion. It will join nine other Chinese mainland cities taking part in the exhibition.

The event will cover four main themes: “Green Energy in Motion,” “Frontier Green Tech,” “Building for a Greener City,” and “From Waste to Worth.”

Together, these areas will showcase technologies covering the full environmental technology chain, from renewable fuels and energy generation to recycling, carbon monitoring and greener urban infrastructure.

Visitors will be able to see how companies are attempting to solve environmental problems through technologies that can be used in transport, buildings, manufacturing and other sectors.

That practical focus could make the exhibition particularly relevant to businesses searching for ways to meet increasingly demanding environmental standards without putting aside commercial considerations.

Hong Kong Links Expo to Green Transformation

Vanessa Au Sze man, deputy director of the Environmental Protection Department, said at a press conference on Thursday that Eco Expo Asia supports Hong Kong’s green transformation and is aligned with the First Five Year Plan.

The exhibition will also host several major environmental cooperation events.

For the first time in Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau and China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment will jointly organize the Belt and Road Green Innovation Conference during the expo.

The conference will bring together representatives connected with environmental development and green innovation across the Belt and Road region.

The Environmental Protection Department will also work with the Belt and Road Initiative International Green Development Coalition and the Chinese Academy of Sciences to organize the second “Green Silk Road” International Training Program.

The previous programme brought environmental officials from Belt and Road countries to Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland for seminars and visits to green facilities.

The second programme will continue that approach by combining training with exposure to environmental projects and technologies.

ESG Becomes a Bigger Business Priority

The growing commercial importance of sustainability is also reflected in new figures released by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Silas Chu Yiu cheong, associate executive director of the HKTDC, said green transformation is moving beyond government policy and becoming part of the rules shaping international markets.

China, the European Union and many ASEAN economies are pursuing carbon neutrality or net zero targets. Regulations and industrial policies are putting increasing pressure on businesses to reduce emissions and rethink their operations.

The HKTDC ESG Index 2026 rose to 67.3, compared with 64.2 in 2025. The index remained well above the neutral threshold of 50.

The survey also found that 93 percent of respondents had incorporated ESG considerations into their overall business decision making.

Another figure shows how quickly the market for environmental products is changing.

The percentage of businesses sourcing or selling ESG related products and services increased from 29 percent in 2025 to 46 percent in 2026.

That jump points to a wider shift in corporate behaviour. Environmental concerns are increasingly influencing what companies buy, what they sell and which technologies they choose to adopt.

EcoCeres Brings Waste Based Fuel to Hong Kong

Among the companies attracting attention at Eco Expo Asia 2026 will be EcoCeres, a sustainable aviation fuel producer making its first appearance at the exhibition.

The company will showcase renewable sustainable aviation fuel and hydrotreated vegetable oil produced from waste materials.

The technology connects two major environmental challenges: reducing waste and cutting emissions from transportation.

Aviation remains one of the harder sectors to decarbonize because aircraft require energy dense fuels and existing fleets cannot simply be replaced with electric systems. Sustainable aviation fuel offers one route for reducing the environmental impact of air travel while working with existing aviation infrastructure.

By producing fuel from waste materials, EcoCeres is also demonstrating how discarded resources can become inputs for new products.

Its participation gives visitors an opportunity to examine a technology aimed at one of the most difficult areas of the global transition toward lower carbon transport.

AI Technology Will Monitor Greenhouse Gases

Environmental monitoring will be another major focus at the expo.

Stellerus Technology, an artificial intelligence meteorological technology company, will display its Multi Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory.

The greenhouse gas monitoring instrument has been deployed on China’s Tiangong space station.

The technology demonstrates how environmental data collection is expanding into space based observation. Monitoring greenhouse gases from above can provide researchers with additional information about emissions and atmospheric conditions across large areas.

The combination of artificial intelligence, meteorological technology and multi spectral imaging also shows how environmental monitoring is becoming increasingly dependent on advanced data systems.

For governments and businesses working to reduce emissions, reliable information is needed to understand where greenhouse gases are coming from and how concentrations change.

Green Vigor Turns Unused Water Energy Into Electricity

Green Vigor will bring a different type of clean energy technology to the exhibition.

The sustainable solutions provider will showcase a modular hydropower system that converts wasted hydraulic resources into electricity.

The system can use water from tanks and cooling systems that would otherwise provide no further energy benefit.

The idea is simple: instead of allowing existing water flows and pressure to go unused, the system captures that energy and converts it into electricity.

Such technology could be useful in buildings and industrial facilities where water systems already operate on a regular basis.

It also reflects a broader approach to energy efficiency in which companies look for opportunities to recover small amounts of energy from existing infrastructure rather than relying entirely on new power generation facilities.

Why Eco Expo Asia 2026 Matters for Hong Kong

The scale of this year’s exhibition reflects the growing connection between environmental policy and business.

Hong Kong is hosting an event that brings together companies from Southeast Asia, the Chinese mainland and other international markets while also providing a venue for government officials to discuss environmental cooperation.

Around 200 senior officials and semi official representatives from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Belt and Road countries and ASEAN are expected to attend.

The first ASEAN Pavilion adds a strong Southeast Asian presence to that network.

For companies, the event offers access to potential markets and partnerships. For policymakers, it creates a place to exchange ideas and discuss how environmental targets can be supported by real technologies. For visitors, it provides a chance to see products designed to address problems ranging from aviation emissions and industrial energy waste to greenhouse gas monitoring and recycling.

The four main exhibition themes also make clear where much of the green technology market is heading. Clean energy, smarter environmental monitoring, greener buildings and better use of waste are no longer separate conversations. Companies are increasingly developing solutions that connect these areas.

As Eco Expo Asia 2026 opens its doors on October 26, the first ASEAN Pavilion will put Southeast Asian green technology companies directly in front of an international audience in Hong Kong.
